The Ultimate News Quiz 2009

Another year, another opportunity for a ‘Battle of the Brains’ between journalists, newsreaders and big corporate companies to raise money for SPW and Action for children.

‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ was the appropriate theme for the third year of the Ultimate News Quiz, once again generously hosted by Bloomberg in their London headquarters. Anne Robinson was the new quiz mistress and took charge of proceedings with an arched eyebrow and sharp retort, making sure that teams were kept in order and play was fair. Contestants included journalists and much loved newsreaders from the BBC, Radio 4, GMTV and many others. It was a close battle to the finish but Endemol walked away with the prestigious title of ‘the biggest brains’.

Alongside the quiz was a silent auction and in the break Rory Bremner hosted the main charity auction (preceded, of course, by an irreverent and hilarious stand up act!)

The event managed to beat the recession and beat our record, raising a staggering £65,000 for AFC and SPW, through some very generous auction bidding.

As ever next year’s event is already looking extremely popular with most teams already getting in touch to say they would like to attend, so book your tables early to avoid disappointment!

Many thanks to all our generous guests and supporters.
